Specialties

Expert knowledge of the Rare Books & Manuscripts field

My extensive experience allows me to have gained enough knowledge of the rare book and manuscript business to have multiple specialties.

I am thoroughly equipped as a specialist in:

All aspects of Biblical manuscripts from 200 BC through the Renaissance

I am one of only a handful of dealers ever to have bought and sold genuinely ancient Biblical manuscripts: From 200 BC to AD 500, and through the Renaissance and beyond. I have a particularly strong background in early Bibles in English from 1526 through 1611.

Illuminated Manuscripts of the medieval & Renaissance periods

I have owned a gallery, as well as conducted private transactions, that specialized in printed Bibles and Biblical manuscripts, ancient writing systems, and medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts (both religious and secular).

Ancient writing: Mesopotamian & Egyptian

I am one of the few ever to deal actively in ancient languages such as Bactrian, Ugaritic, Assyrian, Sumerian, Proto-Canaanitic, Paleo-Hebrew, Demotic and Hieratic Egyptian, Aramaic, pre-Islamic Arabic, Indus Valley Script, etc. whether on clay, linen, metal, parchment, bone, bark, or wood.

19th Century literature

I have strong expertise in Charles Dickens and other Victorian novelists, as well as mad writers of the “American Renaissance” e.g. Edgar Allan Poe and Herman Melville.

Modern first editions of high monetary value

I have vast experience in dealing modern first editions of high monetary value, especially those of James Joyce and F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as high spots of other modern authors.

Histories of Economics & Political Theory

I have built several of the very finest private collections in America, England, Japan, and Mexico in the fields of: 19th Century Literature; 20th Century Literature: the History of Printing; the History of Writing; the History of Economics; the History of Political Theory; the History of Science; Pacific Voyages; Children’s Books; the History of Theology; and the Bible.
